Jed & Kate’s Intimate fishing wedding overlooking the Caribbean Sea at Ambergris Caye, Belize.
First of all, let me take a second to brag about what a rad and down to earth couple Jed & Kate are! These two have a real genuine love for life and each other (also fishing) and that is why they chose the El Pescador Lodge - (which by the way, El Pescador means “the fisherman” which Jed and Kate can very much relate to) in San Pedro to declare and make official their love for each other in front of just a few of close friends and family.
There is so much beauty in Belize, specifically San Pedro where their wedding was held. The El Pescador Lodge did an amazing job of taking care of everyone and they have so much to offer you can choose from land, sea, or land/sea activities where you can explore the waters, dive the reef, see Mayan ruins, zip-line through jungle canopies, float tube through an ancient cave, and so much more!
You can either take a “puddle jumper” plane or sea bus from Belize City to San Pedro - I chose the sea bus to get a true Belizean experience and let me tell you it was incredible! Just an hour on the ocean on the top deck of the sea bus made me want to pack my bags at home and take up permanent residence on the beautiful little Island.
Jed and Kate’s wedding day started off with the boys going out and fishing while the girls got ready in one of the private villas at El Pescador. It was a little dark and cloudy but we all had high hopes that the weather would clear, well about 2 hours from the ceremony start time the storm rolled in so fiercely that I think we all started secretly freaking out about what was going to happen. Kate reminded so calm and zen, I was so proud of her - plus I heard it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day. We continued getting ready and the storm passed leaving a fresh after rain smell. She did her first look on the dock with her dad and then made her way out to the end of the dock to surprise Jed with the beautiful dress she had chosen.
Jed & Kate’s two best friends performed the sweetest ceremony overlooking the ocean in a little clearing on the beach, simultaneously taking turns speaking on love and life commitments. Kate’s sister-on-law wrote and sang a song for them as Kate walked down the aisle and everyone was in tears because it was SO SO beautiful! After the ceremony Kate and her dad danced under the palm trees the guests enjoyed fresh ceviche and “panty rippers” (best drink ever) btw. Jed Kate and I took off for some golden hour photos although we were on the wrong side of the island for sunset photos and it was still pretty cloudy so they were more of blue hour photos which I still love and I mean lets be honest you can’t really go wrong when taking photos on a beach in the Caribbean ocean. The night ended with the most delicious fresh seafood dinner while everyone sat under bistro lights strung from the Palm Trees, everyone went around the table and said why they love Jed and Kate so much and after dinner we made our way up to end the night smoking some celebratory cigars where they reflected on how special it was to have shared their vows and gotten married in such a special place to them.
Jed and Kate’s wedding serves as a reminder to me as to why I love these types of weddings, their take on the perfect love story really resonates with me and put a new light into an area I’ve never experienced before. I feel so fortunate to have been able to witness their love here, in San Pedro, but more than that I am so stoked to have been able to share in their day and the thought of them coming back and celebrating for years to comes just makes me smile!
