Eight years ago, Reese and I met while playing in a band together in Santa Barbara. A year later, he convinced me to move to Sun Valley Idaho and river raft guide on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. It hasn’t stopped being an adventure ever since. From bike touring 2,000 miles down the pacific coast with a violin/guitar/surfboard in tow, pursuing higher educations in the Bay Area, living apart in separate states and different countries, and seeking adventures in both the mountain and coastal regions, we’ve continued to grow as individuals and as partners. When we got engaged in the Sawtooth Mountain Range last year during the eclipse, neither of us had any expectations for our wedding. With family and friends all over the world, all we knew was that we had to share the place where our puppy love grew into that unconditional-to-the-moon-and-back kind of love, Sun Valley, Idaho. When planning the wedding, individual touches were important to Reese and me. Reese handmade the groomsmen aspen bolo ties, I drew a map of Reese and I’s journey together that was included in the gift bags, and with the expertise of a friend, our first dance was choreographed to Up Against the Wall by The Be Good Tanyas. In addition, we decided to write and sing our vows to each other, staying true to the thing that brought us together in the first place, music. Our wedding was hands down the best day of our lives, thanks to all of our family, friends, vendors, and the outstanding setting that has always brought out the best in us, the Northern Rocky Mountains.
